Last season: After signing his first professional contract, Cano joined his hometown club – USL League One’s Lexington SC – on loan for the season. There, he tallied two goals in 17 appearances.
Before Louisville City: Cano, who has emerged as a top player in LouCity’s youth system, attended Lexington’s Dunbar High, where as a senior he scored 34 of 89 goals for the Bulldogs en route to winning the 2021 state championship. After seeing time in LouCity preseason games, registering an assist in a draw with Major League Soccer’s Sporting KC, Cano signed a USL Academy contract. The deal allowed Cano to train with and play for LouCity’s first team while retaining his amateur status.
