Veteran defender Sean Totsch stars in a new video as Louisville City FC enters the playoffs off a record-breaking regular season! The top-seeded boys in purple are looking to win their first USL Championship title since going back-to-back in 2017 and 2018.
In Totsch’s words: “It’s been a while — too long if you ask me.” So this fall, LouCity will “Reach for the Stars,” looking to add to its crest as the 2024 USL Championship Playoffs’ No. 1 overall seed.
City hosts North Carolina FC at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Lynn Family Stadium in an Eastern Conference Quarterfinal. Tickets are available now at LouCity.com/playoffs.
The matchup
LouCity won both its regular season matchups against North Carolina, but they were distinctly different games.
In a 2-1 win back on June 8, City controlled proceedings, building a lead before North Carolina pulled a goal back in stoppage time. The clubs’ August 31 rematch resulted in a wild, 6-4 victory for the boys in purple, who trailed at three different points in the game before distancing themselves late.
North Carolina won four of its last five regular season games to lock up the East’s No. 8 seed on the regular season’s final day.
The bracket
LouCity, by way of winning the Players’ Shield for the league’s best regular season record, is in line to host each of its playoff games should the club advance.
The winner of City’s conference quarterfinal will move on to play either fourth-seeded Indy Eleven or fifth-seeded Rhode Island FC. The latter club was the only one to beat the boys in purple this season at Lynn Family Stadium amid a campaign when they went 16-1 at home.
