Louisville City FC returns from a weekend away with a new face at the top of its formation.
Sam Gleadle will assume the striker role at 7 p.m. Tuesday, when LouCity kicks off against Loudoun United FC in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. This will mark Gleadle’s first start of the season in place of Phillip Goodrum, who’s available as a substitute.
Coach Danny Cruz made Gleadle one of four changes from the club’s last game, a late-earned draw April 5 at Sacramento Republic FC. Amadou Dia — who scored 97 minutes and 55 seconds into the Sacramento match — reclaims a starting spot this time. Midfielder Kevon Lambert will make his first start in purple, and Adrien Perez is also back in the 11 at forward, playing alongside Gleadle and Ray Serrano in the attack.
Taylor Davila will partner with Lambert in the midfield, while Aiden McFadden lines up opposite of Dia on the right wing.
The defensive line of Kyle Adams, Arturo Ordóñez and Sean Totsch remains unchanged in front of goalkeeper Damian Las.
In a positive development for LouCity’s injury situation, Jake Morris will be available off the bench Tuesday for the first time this season.
Coverage of LouCity-Loudoun will air on CBS Sports Network and Paramount+ from Lynn Family Stadium. There must be a winner Tuesday, meaning extra time and penalty kicks are possible between clubs ranked 1-2 on the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference table. The surviving team moves on to the Round of 32, which will introduce sides to the Open Cup.
