Quinns strike up for USL Goal of the Month
Louisville City FC supporters in 2015 propelled Aodhan Quinn’s memorable bending free kick against the Tulsa Roughnecks to USL Goal of the Year by way of a fan vote. They have the chance to do it again for a similar shot, this time with June’s USL Goal of the Month at stake.
As the calendar turned a page, the USL listed Quinn’s 68th-minute strike scored June 5 against Orlando City B among 10 under consideration. Quinn, a midfielder and LouCity’s captain, hooked a shot past the keeper in a 4-3 victory at Orlando as his club battled down a man most of the match.
The USL poll — click here to vote — runs until 9 a.m. Monday. For perspective, there were 183 goals scored in all last month in the league.
Winning goals go on to the end-of-season balloting for best of the year.

Video: LouCity, FC Cincinnati supporters play for The Plastic Cup
Before their teams did battle at Louisville Slugger Field, the largest supporters groups for Louisville City FC (The Coopers) and FC Cincinnati (The Pride) staged a game of their own Saturday.
The Coopers pulled out a 1-0 victory on a steamy afternoon, keeping the Plastic Cup — their alternative to the River Cities Cup — on the right side of the Ohio River.
“It’s nice to get a win, but I don’t think anybody would have cared whether we won or lost,” said The Coopers’ Taylor Sorrels. “It was just good to get out and sweat a little bit — have a good time with the FC Cincy guys, the Pride — and have fun playing with these guys.”
