2023: Morton will remain in goal for LouCity after the club exercised his contract option for next season.
Last Season: A wall in goal for LouCity, Morton started 28 games while only conceding 20 goals on the year — a rate of just 0.74 goals per 90 minutes. That figure proved enough for Morton to win City its first USL Championship Golden Glove. Morton also set a new club record for individual clean sheets on a season with 13.
Before Louisville City: Following his collegiate career at James Madison University, Morton joined the Rochester Rhinos, who went on hiatus following the 2017 season. He then followed coach Bob Lilley to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. Morton missed most of 2018 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament but returned to have a career year in 2019, ranking second in the league with 13 clean sheets as the Riverhounds posted the Eastern Conference’s best record. Morton shifted to Saint Louis FC for the 2020 campaign and won the starting job on an eventual playoff team. He registered a 73.5 percent save percentage while making 51 saves. Morton, who saw limited minutes with Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo in 2021, has three times been named a USL Championship Goalkeeper of the Year finalist.
